Johnna Jaynstein, MMS, PA-C, has been a practicing physician assistant for 10 years in cardiology, family practice, emergency medicine, and orthopedic surgery. She was the inaugural Director of Student Health at Red Rocks Community College from 2012 to 2017 where she was honored to develop a community health clinic from the ground up. She now works full time at Colorado’s only safety net hospital, Denver Health, in emergency medicine and orthopedic surgery. Johnna has been a member of PAGH since 2015 when she learned about the organization through the annual PAGH conference. She became the Vice President of PAGH in January of 2016 and has remained in the position through today.
Global Health Experience
Johnna’s global health passions derive from past volunteer service trips to Maun, Botswana, and San Salvador, El Salvador. After Hurricane Katrina, Johnna volunteered with Good Samaritan and was able to help short term with a FEMA medical site due to her medical experience. In PA school, she completed a 6 week rotation in HIV/AIDS and hospital medicine at McCord Hospital in Durban, South Africa.  Today she sees global health problems present daily at Denver Health with its high refugee, immigrant, and homeless population.
